For me, the English suites are a collection that has nice tunes intermixed with real gems. In this first suite from the collection of “grand suites” by Bach, likely written around 1715, is a pair of Bourée dances, in opposing modalities (major-minor). I like interpretation here best from Murray Perahia who recorded them some years ago on the Sony Classics label.
