I love music.

I write about the music I like and have purchased for the benefit of better understanding it and sharing my preferences with others.

Bachfest 2011

#alttext# As part of my regular regimen of self-torture (where I peruse things online I cannot have, usually because of cost), I re-visited the Bach Leipzig Festival website, and found their booklet for this year's event. There are several performances I would really like to see. * Christina Pluhar and L'Apreggiata * Il Giardino Armonico * Accademia Bizantina Seem like outstanding programs, not to mention artists I am less familiar with performing on pianos, harpsichords, and organs. Last year, maybe June or so, I had visited the website and saw what I missed in 2010. I wondered if I could go this year, and I made the conviction to do so. Leipzig in 2011. I put the festival on my calendar. It stares at me now each day as June approaches. And I regret I've scheduled classes to teach, enrolled in a doctoral program which conflicts with leaving the country, and never made arrangements to attend. No doubt, the travel, tickets, etc. would be expensive. But this is Bach, the world's finest composer, in his own neighborhood. And internationally first-rate musicians. Maybe later this year I can plan for Bachfest 2012.
