There's a spot in the American movie National Lampoon European Vacation starring Chevy Chase where they go to a French bistro near the Eiffel Tower, and the food served is actually re-heated TV dinners.
The last time I went to Paris, I visited the Atelier of Joël Robuchon at l'Etoile, near the Arc di Triomphe. You enter through a drug store, then descend steps into a cave of high cuisine. It was a delicious meal, only outdone perhaps by the previous visit to the location on the Rue de Bac, and the previous Atelier in New York.
Imagine my surprise when I spied TV dinners à la Robuchon! I didn't try them, nor, really, did it surprise me a lot. Here we have TV dinners with "famous" names on them too, albeit of restaurants like TGI Fridays, PF Chang's, or some other chain restaurant. It would be interesting to have tried it. I'd probably fall for the guy on the box here at least once, just to see.
